  3. Every year, more than 7 million fires are registered worldwide? Every year, more than 70.000 people in the world die in a fire– (among this figure every 10th fatal casualty is a child?)60% of EU citizens are exposed to a fire during their lifetime 25 to 20% of fires have an electrical cause www.europeanfireacademy.eu

Possible actions 2008 • Focusing on good practices in electrical fires • Helping fire services and stakeholders to better identify electrical fires (training of fire examiners, difference between electric wirings and devices, methodological guidelines,…), • Agreeing on an harmonised definition of this kind of fires in order to harmonise and collect statistics at EU level, • Identifying normalisation / recommandation work for electric wirings and devices • Suggesting periodic monitoring of electric wirings to avoid different wiring levels throughout Europe www.europeanfireacademy.eu
