  5. Grading Rubric 30% Notebooks 20%Homework 50% Quizzes/Assessments

  6. Notebooks (30%) • Format • Each activity’s format is projected and modeled • Each question of the activity is answered individually/pairs and discussed in small groups, large groups, and reemphasized again by the instructor (this process is done for homework questions as well…)

  7. Notebooks (30%) • Grading • All notebook information is reviewed, discussed, and completed during class time • Notebook Checks • All activity sections (including handouts glued or taped in) either receive a “4” if completed or a “0” if incomplete, missing, or not glued or taped in • Checklists are due the day of the notebook check or it is considered late and points will be lost (if absent turn in notebook and checklist the following day…)

Homework (20%) • Purpose: • To apply the concept(s) from the activity in order to self assess comprehension of information (use of complete sentences is required in order to review information independently) • May be in the form of activity section questions, a Practice (green practice sections in textbook) Scientists Consensus Ideas or other handouts • Extend the activity…

  9. Homework (20%) • Grading • Stamped at the beginning of class for completion (Students need to try their best to complete the entire assignment) • Reviewed in class and students are expected to make corrections or complete it (for Notebook Check…)

  10. Homework (20%) cont. • Grading • STAMPS receive a “4” during the notebook check. So, students receive a “4” for completing homework (20%) on time and another “4” for completing the assignment and having it present in the notebook at the time of the check (30%)…

Homework (20%) • Grading • Parent signatures are an important form of communication and are required on tests, notebook checks, etc • Signed documents receive a “4” (homework 20%) if returned within 5 school days • “3” within 2 weeks (10 school days) • “2” within 3 weeks (15 school days) • “1” thereafter (16+ school days)

Quizzes (50%) • Consists of - • long term projects, tests, quizzes, written analyses, and participation evaluations. • Students may retake some quizzes that receive scores less than 70% for a maximum of 70% for the retake. • Retakes must be taken within 5 school days of original quiz and they must have 80% in both their notebook and homework categories to be eligible for a retake…

  14. Absences This curriculum is designed to be hands on and minds on, which makes it extremely difficult to make up work outside of class. This sometimes makes long term contracts difficult to fill out for students. Upon returning from an absence, students have 2 school days to make up missing assignments Tutoring – by appointment before or after school and during academic prep on Thursday (SOAR) Check Daily Agendas at Standley Websiteespecially if absentso they know what they need when they return!!!
