  3. PEOPLE TRAFFICKING IS HUGE • MORE SLAVES TODAY than in Wilberforce’s day, many of whom are ’trafficked’ • A GLOBAL BLACK MARKET worth $7 BILLIONa year • The fastest growing of the TOP THREE ILLEGAL WORLD TRADES, alongside arms & drugs

PEOPLE TRAFFICKING … • People trafficking affects virtually every country and particularly affects people who are vulnerable or poor. • Parents sell children for AS LITTLE AS $30 • Traffickers circle natural disaster sites for orphans • Trafficking supplies forced prostitution, child soldiers, camel jockeys, sweat shops…

  5. IT AFFECTS US ALL • YOUR CHOCOLATE may have come from West African cocoa farms, where trafficked children are often used

  6. STOP THE TRAFFIK • A GLOBAL MOVE leading Up To 25.3.07, the bicentenary of the abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade • Our cry is: “PREVENT THE SALE OF PEOPLE” “PROSECUTE THE TRAFFICKERS” “PROTECT THE VICTIMS”

  7. WHAT ARE WE DOING? • Education: Create awareness and understanding of the subject. Capture people’s imaginations and inspire them to act • Advocacy: Show people how they can make a difference. Help put pressure on those who have the power to minimize the activity • Fundraising: Financing new projects (safe houses, vocational training, awareness campaigns etc) • Freedom Day: Focal day for local ran activities across the world on 25th March 2007
