  3. Hallyu Wave • Began in 1992 with the debut of SeoTaiji & The Boys • Western influences including rap, rock, and techno • Created a fresh new sound that took over the country • 1st and 2nd wave • 2nd wave receiving more global attention due to easy accessibility across the world

  4. Foreign Interest • Why do foreigners like kpop? • Fresh new sound with live performances posted online weekly • Highly successful marketing strategies • Unmatched professionalism • Flash mob in Paris that demanded an extra concert date be added

  5. Adaptations • Multitalented members who sing, dance, and act • Foreign born group members that attract fans across the world • Adopting English in lyrics, band names, and even full songs • Work with world-famous producers across the globe • Regular change of musical and stylistic concepts

  6. Future Globalization • “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man” • $3.8 Billion business • One of Korea’s most important exports
