7. Scholar Designation • In addition to meeting the standard high school diploma requirements: • 1 credit in Algebra II • 1 credit in statistics or an equally rigorous mathematics course • Pass the Biology EOC • 1 credit in chemistry or physics • 1 credit in a course equally rigorous to chemistry or physics • Pass the U.S. History EOC • 2 credits in the same world language • 1 credit in an AP or Dual-Enrollment course

Dual Enrollment Class of 2015 • Must be high school sophomores, juniors and seniors • Academic courses require a minimum un-weighted GPA of 3.0 • Vocational courses require a minimum un-weighted GPA of 2.5 • Obtain passing scores on sections of the ACT, SAT or PERT placement test that are relevant to the course(s) in which the student wishes to enroll. • Students are required to have taken each section of the ACT, SAT or PERT in order to take any dual enrollment course • Students are required to pass the English and Reading portions of the PERT, SAT or ACT in order to take English, social studies, humanities, etc • Students must take the math portion of the PERT for math or science placement. The SAT or ACT will only place a student into intermediate algebra (MAT1033) • Students are responsible for ensuring official score reports for the SAT and ACT are sent directly to the college

21. Dual Enrollment Class of 2015 • Juniors can take up to two courses per semester • Seniors can take up to three courses per semester

22. 7 Steps to Dual Enrollment 1) Submit a completed Polk State College Application for Admission 2) Take and pass a state approved placement test (ACT, SAT or PERT) and, if ACT or SAT submit official score report to PSC 3) Submit a completed High School Approval Form for Dual Enrollment and Early Admission students to high school counselor 4) Confer with their high school counselor regarding course selection 5) High school counselor approves the course via Dual Enrollment Portal 6) PSC advisor registers the student for approved course(s) in person during dual enrollment registration 7) Take a printed copy of the fee sheet which includes the college schedule to the high school counselor and obtain a book voucher * Continuing dual enrollment students repeat items 3-7 each subsequent semester.

23. Dual Enrollment reminder • Dual Enrollment course grades are included in the student’s high school and college transcripts • All Dual Enrollment course grades will impact your college GPA

24. Online virtual education • Student/Parent requests the course on www.flvs.net(complete instructions are available on the GJHS website) • Return a completed ‘Notification of Registration for Florida Virtual School Class’ form to the Guidance Office. This form requires student and parent signatures and reinforces FLVS/PVS grading policy. • Your counselor will check to make sure you’ve requested the correct course and approve the course. On your FLVS account, your course will show CRC (course request complete). • FLVS/PVS will place you with a teacher. FLVS may take a few weeks. PVS may take only a few days. Continue to check your FLVS account for placement.
