  2. Definition Commas to prevent misreading are commas placed into sentences to clarify the meaning. Without them, the sentence has a whole new meaning.

  3. Example #1 Without comma: I love watching animals eating Italian food and listening to music. With comma: I love watching animals, eating Italian food, and listening to music.

  4. Example #2 Without comma: The children having already eaten the adults sat down to a quiet dinner. With comma: The children having already eaten, the adults sat down to a quiet dinner.

  5. Example #3 Without comma: Did the lion eat Fred? With comma: Did the lion eat, Fred?
