  2. The structure I chose is called the Eiffel Tower and it is located in Avenue Anatole France, 75007 Paris, France.

  3. The Eiffel Tower was the tallest man made structure at its time. It is a major accomplishment that they built the tallest man made structure at its time with iron which has been very uncommon because most buildings at that time were made of stone. It is a frame structure because it is made up of iron beams connected. The Eiffel tower weighs 10 000 tons. Each leg that makes up the base of it is 80 meters apart from each other. The surface of the tower is streamline and it allows wind to pass by it instead of making it sway back and forth which can potentially damage the tower. The Eiffel Tower is made of wrote iron. The Eiffel Tower is 324 meters tall. The loads that affect the structure are tension and gravity. The tension can happen on the Eiffel Tower when it is in the wind, and it might sway.

  4. When the tower was first built it was designed to demonstrate that iron is stronger and lighter than stone in a contest in the World Fair Show. Also in 1909 the tower was nearly destroyed because people didn’t have a purpose for it but they decided to use the Eiffel Tower as a telecommunications tower. The tower’s its form is great because it is tall and a landmark to Paris. The Eiffel Tower also suites it’s function as a telecommunications tower very well because it is very tall.
