Survey Planning System – Why? • Capture all survey information in one central location, from application stage through to cruise reporting • Reduce amount of manual recording • Improved scheduling, planning, allocation of ship-time, updating & displaying schedules online, reporting and statistical analysis • Automatic reminders • Action points highlighted inc. ownership • Used by scientists for submitting ship time application and survey details • Used by vessel crew for accessing survey information • Open access – available to RV Operations, POMS Shore operations, crew and Chief Scientist

  3. Survey Planning System Work Flow • RV Ops open a call for ship time for the upcoming year • Applicants logon to SPS to complete the ship time application form

  7. Survey Planning System Work Flow • SPS generates automatic e-mail reminders to Chief Scientists regarding survey details required e.g. Next of Kin Information • Last minute changes can be entered by RV Ops • Pre Cruise actions are recorded on SPS
