What Change Was Introduced? On June 3, 2003, the Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark established the community as a Private Lay Association of the Faithful, meaning that as lay organization we are to serve in the life and mission of the local churches in diocese.
Current Situation Community mission is short in meeting the requirements of a Private Lay Association.
Community Overall Mission “To grow in an ever-deepening love relationship with the Lord Jesus as we love, upbuild, and serve one another in love , joy, peace, and unity in community”. It stresses communion more than mission.
Shift In Direction On December 30, 2004; 18 months after the establishment as a Private Lay Association of the Faithful, the DCS designated a Task Force to review and promulgate plans to integrate community into the life and mission in the local churches of Newark.
Order “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.”(Mk 16:15)
Directions • Be My witness to all to what you have seen and heard. • Focus on the Lord. • Follow the Lord. • Be fertile and multiply. Use your giftedness and share your gifts with others. • When trials threaten to overwhelm us, respond with faith and hope in God’s loving care and presence. • Look to the Lord for strength and help. • Don’t give in to fear on the tasks at hand, take courage and be calm because God is with us, ready to help us in our needs. • Continue serving with eagerness thru faith and patience. • Seek God’s word; pray that you will be heard to achieve God’s will. • Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples.
