  4. Problem • Almond has a lack of senior management experience • Investors unwilling to invest unless there is a more experienced CEO • If a replacement were to happen, it must happen soon, before the next round of financing • Almond is not able to maintain composure

  5. Solution: Replace Almond, but keep him in a key strategic position To replace or not to replace? Pro • Better credibility with investors • The replacement, Tim Howard, is a “known good” Con • Almond is crucial to RSI’s success • Possible dip in company morale • Difficult to remove him as CEO due to legal restrictions

What should Almond do? • Objectively evaluate his strengths, determine what is best for company • Ask himself about the role he wishes to play in building his company • Separate his emotions for power from the decision • Realize that the role of leadership changes as a company grows • Create array of options for his continued involvement with company and present to Board
