  1. Waste Container Tracking System - WCTS Hey! Where’d the waste go? WCTS was developed and is maintained by Valmont Industries, Inc. WCTS is a wholly Owned and Proprietary System. When you need answers about WCTS Who Do You Call? The Corporate Environmental Department Phone: 800-825-6668 Mitch Jensen – Extension 3303 Bob Goodwin – Extension 3945 Where’d what waste go?

  2. Log into WCTS Before we get to the meat of this subject authorizations will be needed to use WCTS. Access to the system must be done through the IT Departments Authorization Process. Using the “Employee Setup or Transfer Form that is used for general computer accesses, please indicated that you will need access to the Environmental Waste Container Tracking System. Your Supervisor or Manager will have to sign and submit the document. (VO/Forms) It will be helpful if you give Mitch Jensen a phone call warning him that you will be given access to the system. Mitch can help stream line the process. ( 800-825-6668, Extension 3303) This should be a painless process… In Your Dreams!!!

  3. Parts of the System WCTS Unit of Measure Editor Disposal Method Editor Transporter Editor Destination Facility Editor Container Editor Profile Editor These six editors are set up by the corporate environmental department. For any new waste stream specific information will be needed to start using the WCTS to track a new waste.

  4. Specific Information is needed to set up a new waste stream Does all the information need to be provided before the tracking system can be used? Waste determination sheet Profile sheet Lab analytical Previously shipped Waste Manifest Univar Invoice Univar Use Report No! But some of the basic information should be provided; Common Waste name, profile number and such. As the other information becomes available it can be added later.

  5. So the initial information has been put into the WCTS.Now What? Container Numbers!!! This can be about any type of numbering system you would like, but we have a suggestion or two. Use Sequential numbers and do not start your numbering over at the beginning of a new year. Allow the numbering to go on until the end of time. Prefixes can be used and are suggested for the different waste streams. Create a separate log indicating what numbers have been used. This is helpful to avoid entering duplicates. The system will not allow duplicate numbers to be entered without deletion of previous entries. Once the Container Numbers are set and we are ready to enter a container into the system.

  6. How to get to the WCTS Enter Valmont Online Click On Resource Pages Click On Environmental Click On Environmental Intranet Click On Waste Container Tracking Click On Log into WCTS And Boom – you’re there! Once you get to the WCTS Main Menu, Create a short cut to your home page or desk top and you will never have to go through that maze again.

  7. To Enter a Container into the WCTS Do This: And this, and this, and that, then this… On the Waste container Main menu page click on “waste container detail”. Then Click on “New” Enter appropriate information into blanks then Click “save” The Container is now entered!

  8. Time to Ship your Waste Out!Univar or Another Waste Handler will give you your Manifest. It will have a unique number in the upper right hand corner. This number needs written on each containers label in the space that is provided and assigned to each container in the WCTS.(This is going to be easier than anything else you have seen yet.)Use the WCTS Main Menu Screen and Click on “UnManifested Containers”On this Screen you can enter the Manifest Number and Click on each Container that will be assigned to this Manifest, then Click “Save”This Screen can also be used as a quick reference as to what you should have in your Waste Yard or Storage Area.

  9. Entering Invoice Data Waste Invoice Data, when entered into the WCTS, can provide valuable analytical analysis reports. The following will explain how to enter the data. As a rule an invoice will provide the expenses relating to a single Manifest Shipment. The invoice will list the total expense per container for disposal. Other expenses such as Fuel Surcharges, Clean Out and other miscellaneous charges will have to be broken down by dividing the number of containers into the out standing charge to get the per container charge. As part of your expenses don’t forget to include the expense for purchasing the container. From the WCTS Main Menu, Click on the “Waste Container Disposal Detail”. From the Disposal Detail Screen you can enter the container number and Click “Retrieve”.

  10. Continue with Entering Disposal Data The previously entered data on the container should be showing at this point. You can now fill in the Disposal costs: Treatment - This is the per container disposal cost Transportation - Includes all expenses associated with Transportation including Fuel Surcharge and clean out Expense. Sampling - Any standard or special Sampling associated with this container. Container - This is the expense of the container, liners and labels that may be used. When done Click “Save” at the top of the screen. Note: At the very bottom of this screen and other screens through out the WCTS you will find an “Add Note” feature. Anytime there is a need for extra explanation this feature can be used. Remember to Click the “Save” button anytime you enter data.

  11. Reports On the WCTS Main Menu under Reports there are 7 choices. The first two choices are standard pre-formatted reports for either a Department or Profile Sort. The Third choice is a report for waste waiting to be shipped, similar to what the screen “UnManifested Containers” will display for you. The fourth and fifth report choices are intended for Biennial Waste Reporting The sixth choice is used to help fill out the “TRI” Form R Reports The Seventh choice is to export the selected data into an Excel Spreadsheet where the data can be displayed into customized forms.

  12. Reports Continued… Common to all Report Screens is the ability to filter the data. By specifying time periods, profiles, departments, hazard type, manifest numbers and destination facility any number of variations of a report can be made. All reports can be printed by using the print screen function or icon with Microsoft Windows.
