  6. Rotary is • A worldwide network of inspired individuals • Individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes to change lives in communities. • Questions for Anguilla – • How do we fit in? • How do You fit in?

  7. Regulations/Procedures • Rotary is much bigger than you or me. • Rotary is a global organization. • The guidelines for being part of Rotary are found in Rotary’s Manual of Procedure. • The M.O.P. is revised every 3 years. Current issue is 2010.

  8. What is Rotary? • A complex organization • All clubs and all Rotarians adhere to • The constitution of the Rotary Club and • Theprocedures for participation in the club, district, zone

  9. An effective Rotary club • Membership. Sustains or increases their membership base • Projects. Implements successful service projects in their community and communities in other countries • TRF. Supports The Rotary Foundation, both financially and through program participation • Develops leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level

  10. Rotary’s 4-Way Test • …of the things we think, say, and do: • Is it the TRUTH? • Is it FAIR to all concerned? • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Object of RotaryService • FIRST – The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service • SECOND – High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society • THIRD – The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life • FOURTH – The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service

Involvement is the Key • Long-time Rotarians agree that the involvement is key to getting the most out of Rotary. • Rotarians must volunteer in these ways: • to serve on a committee that serves your interests • to be a greeter at regular club meetings • to join a service project team • to help develop and carry through an excellent community project • You’ll get to know your fellow Rotarians. • You’ll get to understand Rotary more clearly.

  34. Obligations of Rotarians • What are the obligations of a Rotarian? •  (1) One of the obligations and responsibilities of Rotary club members is the prompt payment of club dues. • (2) Another important obligation and responsibility is regular attendance.

  35. All Rotarians… It will be my duty to Exemplify the Object of Rotary in all my daily contacts and activities Abide by the constitutional documents of Rotary International and of the club. I agree To pay any admission fees required by the club and To pay annual dues in accordance with the club bylaws.

Rotary dues • According to the Rotary Manual of Procedure, Rotary dues must be paid within 30 days from the due date (either July 1 or January 1 - or both). • Rotary dues are necessary to allow the clubs to function effectively. • Members and even clubs that are delinquent can have their membership terminated. • Rotary has specific financial obligations that must be met by all Rotarians.

  37. Regular attendance • First of all, Rotary is so much more fun when you attend! • We miss you when you do not attend! • The only way to stay involved is to attend. • But otherwise…

  38. Regular Attendance • Only when you attend and participate • Can you keep up to date with what the club is doing • Can you offer your services to the club and to the community • Will you feel part of Rotary • Can you bring a friend along • Can you share in Rotary’s good name and good works

If not, then how do you change? • Is our club an effective Rotary club? If not, then what can we do? • How can we increase Rotary awareness?
