The Common Core Standards aim to provide clear, consistent educational guidelines to ensure all students acquire the necessary skills for college and career success by 2014. These standards promote deeper knowledge, equity, and global competitiveness without being a federal mandate or curriculum. They emphasize instructional shifts in math and English Language Arts, fostering coherence, procedural fluency, and critical reading skills. Parents can support this initiative by attending informational sessions and utilizing resources to help their children adapt to these standards.
