  1. ”Water is Life” Sambian kaivoprojektit 2006-2012 Piirin 1410 klubien kaivoprojekti Piirin klubien rahoituksella perustettu 17 porakaivoa. Sambia II kokonaisrahoitus oli 62 750,00 USD. Mukana 35 klubia. Vireillä olevan Sambia III tavoitteena on perustaa 8 uutta kaivoa, budjetti 55 459,00 USD, mukana 25 klubia.

Puhdas vesi, elämän ehto • Maapallon vesivaroista 97,5% on suolaista vettä ja vain 2,5% makeaa vettä • Lähes 2 mrd. ihmistä asuu alueilla, joilta vesivarat puuttuvat, 900 miljoonalla ei ole puhdasta vettä • 46% maailman väestöstä ei ole vesijohto-verkoston piirissä • Pilaantunut vesi tappaa 3,3 milj. ihmistä/v.

Sambia III -tavoitetilanne 10/2012 • Tavoitteena saada lopullinen hyväksyntä Säätiöltä ja töiden käynnistäminen • Suunniteltujen 8 porakaivon perustaminen ennen rotaryvuoden loppua 30.6.2013 mennessä • Suunnitelmissa piirin valtuuskunnan vierailu Sambiassa 2013/2014 ja keskustelut jatkotoimenpiteistä

  4. Sambia III, perustamissuunnitelma (1) • Siandwazi Community School (20 km east of Zimba town) • Currently the community gets water from a season well dug by the community which gives unclear water • Lonkwe CS (50 km from Zimba) • Current water source nearby stream providing unsafe water

Perustamissuunnitelma (jatkuu..) • Kafekwa CS (75 km from Livingstone) • It would be necessary to support this school for a borehole in order to help them to manage constructions and have water for livestock and domestic use. Current water gets water from a river far from school and people bring water using ox-cart driven by oxen to their homes.

Perustamissuunnitelma (jatkuu..) • Chinkonzya CS (30 km from Zimba and 80 km from Livingstone) • Community population 6500 people and very high need of water • Rotary put a borehole that fails to give water, new borehole 1-2 km away from the school, which would support the school for sustainable education through gardening

  8. Perustamissuunnitelma (jatkuu..) • Miyoba CS (Kalomo district) • School grades 1-5 with 500 pupils,3 teachers and supported by 97 households • One classroom supported by Academic Work of Sweden • Source of water from near by river providing unsafe drinking water

Recommended by Mr. Sianchongwe, American Peace corps volunteer • Sindowe CS (80 km from Livingstone) • Water from a river which is very far, 5 km. Pupils carry water to school for drinking during school hours. We suspect an abuse of pupils in water collecting for teachers.
