Why are there false beliefs about the Church? “There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.” –Venerable Fulton Sheen “Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair.” – G.K. Chesterton “The Church is not a museum for saints, but a hospital for sinners.” – Abigail Van Buren Becoming a Disciple

Wealth Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven . . . do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? (Mt 6:19-20; 25) There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world . . . those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils. . . (1 Tm 6:6-10) Becoming a Disciple

Friendships in the Bible Commitment to Jesus is Associated with Friendship
“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit” (Jn 15:13–16). Commitment to Jesus is Associated with Friendship
