About the Project • CNSE • University at Albany • Binghamton University • University at Buffalo • Stony Brook University • Upstate Medical University • SUNY Downstate Medical Center • SUNY ESF • SUNY New Paltz • Buffalo State College 2 • Campus and central office research administrators are collaborating to develop an electronic effort reporting process that: • Reduces administrative burden to principal investigators (PIs) and the research support function • Improves compliance through accuracy and education • Campuses represented on the project team:

Campus Involvement 3 Campuses not on the Project Team • Project updates during University College Research Council (UCRC) meetings • Fall 2011 • Spring 2012 • March 2012: Three information sessions held • June 2012: Three introduction sessions held • August and September 2012: Three access sessions held

Training Update 4 • PI training curriculum: • Effort Reporting Essentials for PIs • Introduction to the Effort Reporting Electronic Tool • Certify My Effort • Certify My Effort and the Effort of My Staff • Effort Statement Statuses Guidance Document • Glossary of Terms • PI training materials will consist of: • Video simulations • “How To” documents • PowerPoint presentations • Other documents as needed

Training Update 5 PI Training Curriculum Currently posted on the Operational Excellence in Effort Reporting web page on the RF’s internal Web site Final content will be posted on the RF’s public Web site Links to the training materials will be available within ecrt Proxy Certifier Training Curriculum Certify Effort as a Proxy Certifier “How to” document Administrator Training Curriculum Administrator’s guide Other documents as needed

  6. Policy Update 6 Cost Sharing Policy Received approval of policy from SUNY System Administration on October 24 Final review and approval by President Killeen and the President’s Council Effort Reporting Policy Working on draft policy Will require same review process as cost sharing policy

Next Steps 7 • Summer 2012 effort reports should be certified using Oracle • Send your 2013 effort reporting periods of performance to effort@rfsuny.org • At least the spring 2013 dates • ecrt environment will be updated soon • We will send you an e-mail with additional instructions • Suggestion: Compare your summer 2012 Oracle effort reports to the summer 2012 ecrt effort statements
