  2. Learning Objectives • To know and follow basic lab safety rules. • To identify hazards in the laboratory.

  3. Before entering the lab: • What must I do to be safe in my lab? • Dress appropriately. • Roll up your sleeves. • Tie your hair back. • Wear your goggles. • Wear closed shoes.

  4. During the experiment: • 1- read the instruction for procedure carfully • 2- double chick that you are using the correct • Chemicals. • 3- don’t put chemicals back . • 4-don’t drain any chemicals in the sink unless you are told .

  5. What things do you think we should do in a lab? • Do not enter a lab unless a teacher is present. • No eating or drinking. • Wear safety goggles. • Be quiet and sensible during lab work. • Do not run in the lab. • Do not touch apparatus until told. • Report any breakages or spillages immediately.

  6. Before leaving: • Clear your lab station. • Return equipment to its place. • Put waste in waste container.

  7. Write down a list of all the things going wrong in this lab. For each of your answers, write two safety rules. MINT

  8. classwork • Design a lab safety poster that describes the rules of the lab. • You can use a computer or draw it by hand. • The best posters will be displayed in the science department.
