Maggard (North Carolina State University) DMR 0644833 A chemically diverse family of new structurally-adaptable solids is targeted that possess an advanced functionality useful for probing and tuning electronic and magnetic properties. Magnetic susceptibility (left) and the solid-state structure at 10K (right) below the low-temperature magnetic transition found in the new Zn(pyz)V4O10. Multifunctional materials present new routes for tuning the electronic properties at the molecular level, such as also investigated in M(pyz)V4O10 (M = Co, Ni) and M’(bpy)V4O10 (M’ = Ag, Cu).
