Course Objectives • To have a relaxed and nurturing classroom environment. • To sustain instruction that aims to reach all learning styles. • To develop strategic reading skills in every student. • To learn and use the advantages of teamwork. • To be relevant through the use of real life projects.
Class Goals • 70% of students scoring an “A” on semester midterms. • To retain 90% of students in the pre-Algebra/Algebra class. • To enjoy pre-Algebra/Algebra I and enjoy being part of the class.
Testing & Quizzing • Before a test: • You will have at least one quiz grade • You will be given a study guide • We will spend one period to review • During a test: • No talking/music/electronics are allowed • Only pencil and calculator • Cheaters will be given an F
Testing & Quizzing • After a test: • Grade will be given at most in a week • Common mistakes will be reviewed • No curves will be applied
Homework • Will be collected randomly (maybe once/twice per week) • Should be stored in folder • Heading must include: • Student Name • Date • Section name and number • Problems assigned and their corresponding pages

School District Removal Policy • Any student who fails to maintain a grade of C or above during any semester will be removed to MJ3 Advanced class. • Grade given will be 2 letter grades up. • 1st and 2nd semester grades combined with midterm must give 6 quality points.
