  4. Kansas RWIS • 42 sites statewide – KDOT • 53 sites non-KDOT – KTA, cities, counties • All RWIS stations are Surface Systems, Inc. • KDOT full time employee for RWIS maintenance/repair

  5. KanRoad Road Condition Reporting System • System Allows Real-time Data Input • Camera views added in 2008 • Feeds Winter Performance Measure Database

  6. Winter Index • Objective indication of winter severity • Formula parameters: • Nov 1st to March 31st • air temperature (min. and max.) • snowfall amounts • number of air frosts • temperature range

KDOT Maintenance Training Expo • Annual 1-1/2 day training • Geared to the Equipment Operator to provide the latest info. in snow/ice • Classroom sessions, vendor booths, tours, demonstrations • One-third KDOT (485) maintenance employees • APWA attendees (100) • Held in Salina, Kansas - you are all welcome to attend!
