PQH (NI) • accredited course for those aspiring to headship; • underpinned by the National Standards for Headteachers; • designed to facilitate adult learning; • provides blended learning opportunities; and • promotes both individual and organisational learning.
National Standards for Headteachers Define, for headteachers: • the core purpose of their job; • the outcomes they need to achieve; • the knowledge and professional skills necessary; and • leadership and management actions across six key areas.
Revised Model • greater emphasis on self assessment; • more challenging entry process; • a personalised leadership development journey; • placement (in another context); and • closer to headship.

Development Elements of development stage: • induction; • coaching • placement; • peer learning; • workplace learning; • online materials and online activities; and • attendance at conferences and seminars.
DevelopmentIntroductory Day • explanation of stage elements; • reflection of Personal Development Record; and • formation of peer learning groups.
DevelopmentCoaching • 5-7 hour entitlement ( f2f, telephone, online) • Coaches • successful heads -skills and competences verified by RTU • work with trainee head to achieve goals set out in Personal Development Record
DevelopmentPlacement • experience of an unfamiliar school context • placement headteacher • identifies leadership activity • positive influential role model • provides feedback to candidate • provides statement for Graduation Board • contribute to a leadership activity or task
