  8. Dress Code • No sleeveless shirts • No bedroom attire • No see-through and/or transparent tops or bottoms • NO SAGGING PANTS ALLOWED. Pants are to be worn at waistline • Failure to comply with the dress code will result in students being sent home to change and penalties.

  9. Dress Code Policy Offenses • 1st Offense: Warning • 2nd Offense: Students will be required to attend Saturday Academy • 3rd Offense: Students will receive one (1) day OSS • Additional Offenses: Principal’s discretion based upon his investigation

  10. Cell Phone Policy Cell phones and other electronic devices (MP3 players, iPods, etc.) that are visible or heard will be confiscated. Students who refuse to give up their phones/electronic devices will receive OSS. Purnell Swett High School does not assume any liability for the loss or theft of any cell phone or electronic device. In the event of theft, students should file a report with the School Resource Officer.

  11. Cell Phone Policy Offenses 1st Offense- Teacher confiscates phone/electronic device turns it into office and student may pick up phone at the end of the day. 2nd Offense- Teacher confiscates phone/electronic device and parent will have to pick up (NO EXEMPTION) 3rd Offense- One (1) day OSS 4th Offense- Three (3) day OSS for each offense

  25. United Tribes of North Carolina To apply for this $500.00 scholarship applicant must be American Indian residing in North Carolina and enrolled in a state or federally recognized tribe. Applications are available in guidance or the YDS office. Applications must be received in the Bolton, NC office by Friday, February 28, 2014

  26. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program Applicants must plan to enroll full-time at a four year university that focuses on Engineering/Technology or Design and Buisness related programs of study. Scholarship award levels are 2,000 to 25,000. Apply online at www.buickachievers.comfor program details. Deadline: February 28, 2014

  27. Sandhills Community College Students interested in attending Sandhills Community College you may apply for their scholarship online at www.sandhill.edu/scholarships

  28. Veterans Scholarship Program Students if your parent served in the military and is a Veteran please contact the Veterans office at Lumberton, NC or the Lumbee Tribe Office. Deadline: March 1, 2014

Laurinburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has established itself as a public organization that strives to confront problems of the African American family and all Americans. Interested students see Ms. Kathy in guidance for the scholarship application. Deadline to be mailed: March 1, 2014

  30. Golden LEAF Foundation Scholarships Students planning to attend a NC four year college/university or a NC Community College you may apply online for this scholarship. For guidelines and information apply online at CFNC.org/goldenleaf Deadline: March 1,2014

  31. Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mid-Atlantic Christian University is offering a full-tuition scholarship. Information may be found online.

  32. Lumbee River Electric Membership Scholarship Program Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) will offer several scholarships to seniors who parents or guardians are members of the cooperative or an individual who is a member of the cooperative. Deadline: March 3,2014

  33. Lumbee River Electric Membership Scholarship Program Each June, Lumbee River EMC sends up to two students to a weeklong, all-expenses paid trip to Washington, DC. The Youth Tour is open to rising high school sophomores and juniors whose parents or guardians are members of Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation. Information may be found online or in guidance. Deadline: March 3, 2014

  34. North Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals, Inc. NCAEOP will award one scholarship valued at $1,200 at each high school. Interested students please see Ms. Kathy in guidance for application. Deadline: March 12, 2014

  38. The Indian Education VISION volunteer program is accepting applications for Native American students, grades 9-12 who are interested in volunteering in Indian communities. Please a see a YDS for more information

  39. Juniors and Seniors If you plan on playing a sport in college when registering for the SAT or ACT please list the Clearinghouse Code on your Registration Sheet.
