  1. Prometheus Retold by: Will, Ethan, & Major

  2. Many years ago in ancient Greece, there lived two brothers named Prometheus and Epimetheus.

  3. They were unlike any other man on the face of the earth. Prometheus wanted to help man survive.

  4. Prometheus always thought ahead. Epimetheusalways thought about yesterday. Prometheus saw that his creations were dying.

  5. Prometheus went to Zeus and said, “Please give fire to mankind.” “No! It is too dangerous to give them this power,” Zeus said.

  6. Prometheus wouldn’t take no for an answer. Later he went back to Mt. Olympus and took a spark from Zeus lighting bolt.

  7. The spark lit Prometheus’s torch. Once he had the fire, he went back down to earth.

  8. When Prometheus was back down on earth the humans were scared of the fire. Prometheus said, “Don’t be scared. It will not hurt you. It will help you. It will warm you and help you cook your food.”

  9. When Zeus looked down at earth and saw everyone using fire he was furious. He was so enraged that he punished Prometheus for eternity .

  10. The punishment was for Prometheus to be chained to a mountain and an eagle would come every day and rip out the liver from Prometheus. Over night Prometheus’s liver would grow back. This punishment would last until a hero came and sacrificed himself for Prometheus.
