  2. ㈠The Author • A poet and a dramatist • Born in Dublin. Educated in Dublin and London. Spent holidays in Sligo. These places has great influence in his literary career. • In 1904, he opened the Abbey Theatre with Lady Augusta Gregory. • Won the Nobel Prize in 1923. • Symbolism and mysticism in his poems.

  3. ㈡Yeats as a Poet • His poems include The Green Helmet and Other Poems (1910), Responsibilities (1914), The Wild Swans at Coole (1917), The Tower (1928), The Winding Stair (1929) A Vision (1925, 1937).

  4. The Tower (1928) andThe Winding Stair(1929) represent Yeats's highest achievement in poetry. Take Memory and The Second Coming as examples to illustrate Yeats's use of imagery and symbol in his poems.
