  2. Gold rush in California • The California gold rush started in 1848 • The gold was found by man called James W. Marshall • In march 1848 the discovery was reported in the San Francisco newspapers • Many people from different country's came to join the gold rush • The California gold rush finished in 1859

Gold rush in south Africa • The gold rush started in 1886 in the town of Witwatersrand • George Harrison was an Australian gold miner he was the person that discovered gold in south Africa • He declared his discovery with the government • The park where he discovered the gold was named in his honour • After this the park was opened for gold mining

  4. Gold rush in London • The gold rush in London started in 1896 • Thousands of people all over the world came to Klondike in London for the gold rush • SkookumJim Mason discovered the gold in August 1996 • The gold rush ended very quickly it only went for three years and then ended in 1899

  5. Gold rush in New Zealand • The gold rush in New Zealand started in the 1860’s • The gold rush was in Otago in the Gabriel's Gully • The gold rush was very slow and became a long term activity • People are still looking for gold there today

  6. Gold rush in Australia • The gold rush in Australia started in 1851 • Edward Hammond Hargraves claimed the discovery of payable gold in Australia • Gold was discovered in NSW but about 8 months later gold was discovered in Melbourne • The gold rush ended in 1896
