  1. Requirement Of Best Brake Lining Material For Brakes There are so many industrial machineries are used, and one of the important parts of the machine is brake. This is an important safety feature, and it must be maintained and updated. Asbestos based brake lining material was used in previous years due to its ability to get rid of excessive heat, and it is cheap and fire resistant. But, one of its disadvantages is, it is a harmful cancer-causing material. But now-a-days, this is not available in the market due to government regulations. There are three kinds of brake pads are available in the market, they are non-asbestos, semi-metallic and ceramic friction. Non-asbestos type of brake lining materials are environment friendly and durable. Rubber, glass, different types of resins, either of these materials is used for brake lining. Brakes, which use these linings, create dust when used but they are not considered as pollutants. Second type of brake lining materials are brass, copper or steel, which are more durable than non- asbestos type of lining materials. These materials are cheap and easy for maintaining and can be loud. Third type of lining material is costly, but lightweight due to their copper construction. These linings are used with high performance vehicles, and are able to efficiently dissipate heat, also reduce metal-to-metal wear.   2. Brake systems have consumable surfaces, such as drum brakes and disc brakes, which are used in transport vehicles are called brake lining. Brake linings are soft and tough materials which are heat resistant and have high coefficient of dynamic friction. Brake lining in a brake system converts kinetic energy of the vehicle into heat, and therefore, it must be able to survive a high temperature without having excessive wear. When the lining gets worn out, then rivets contact rotors, and causes damage. Therefore, an audible alert or electrical brake wear indicators are present in the vehicles, which show that brake pads are needed to be replaced. Ignoring wear indicator too long may result in reduced braking capacity. Whenever, it is required to replace the brake pads, it is suggested to replace both the brake pads simultaneously, because different lining thickness may cause uneven braking.
