  1. Charts and Diagrams

  2. Rachel wrote the names of her 5 fish on a piece of paper in a certain order from left to right. She put Spot before Shadow, but after Einstein. She wrote Rover after Einstein but before Spot. She wrote Buffy after Rover but before Shadow. If Buffy was not the third one listed, in what order did Rachel write the names of her fish?

  3. Think One

  4. Jay has 8 cats that need to be fed while he is away on a 12 day vacation. If a bag of cat food will feed 3 cats for 15 days, how many bags does he need for his vacation?

  5. PATTERNS, SEQUENCES, and FUNCTION MACHINES

  6. Find the 100th term of the following sequence 3, 12, 21, 30, . . .

  7. Function Machines can multiply or divide and they can add or subtract

  8. Function Machines can even do things like multiplying the number by itself

  9. Some sequence problems can be solved without function machines. All they need is some clever thinking to find the answer

  10. VENN DIAGRAMS

  11. A Venn diagram is used to organize information so that the brain can more easily understand and analyze it.

  12. In a classroom of 29 children, 7 have been to Mexico, 11 have been to Canada, and 4 children have been to both countries. How many children have not been to either county?

  13. You will need two circles.

  14. Overlap them • The 4 is placed in the intersection of the 2 circles because 4 children have been to both countries. • Since Mexico’s circle must add up to 7, a 3 is placed inside the circle • Because Canada’s circle must add up to 11, a 7 is placed inside the circle • Fourteen children are in the circles, so 15 have not been to either country

  15. In a group of 30 high school students, 8 take French, 12 take Spanish, and three take both languages. How many students in the group take neither French nor Spanish?

  16. In a group of 22 students, 7 children like math, 12 children like science, 6 children like English, 3 like math and science, 2 like English and math, 2 like science and English, and 1 student likes all three subjects. How many students don’t like any subject?

  24. Need regrouping 45 – 27 627 – 418 9.45 – 3.46

  25. Search for Compatibles Compatible numbers give you a sum that is easy to use in your head. For example, 75 and 25, 83 and 17, 170 and 300.

  26. Find compatible pairs that total 100. 89 76 51 24 33 11 31 67 49 55 69 45
