  1. Action Plan Prepared By: Mrs. Hira Waseem Subject: Mathematics Grade: VI The City School Gulshan Junior Girls.

  2. Name: Hira Waseem Profession: Teaching Work Place: The City School, Gulshan Junior Girls. D.O.B: 15TH April,1988 Qualification: MS.c in Applied Mathematics About Me

  3. ACKNOWLEDGMENT I would like to thank ALLAH ALMIGHTY for blessing me the strength and knowledge to complete this course. I would also like to thanks the Head Mistress Mrs.Afroz Zafar, District trainers Mr.Omer Faheem and Mr.Shahid Iqbal, Master trainers Mrs.Sehrish Ambreen and Mrs.Sumera Junaid for providing us this opportunity to complete this course with full zeal and enthusiasm providing us a platform for this exquisite learning.

  4. Goals of The Action Plan • To develop higher order thinkingskills and collaborative environment to enhance critical thinking. • To motivate for creative work and develop intellectual curiosity. • To enhance mathematical skills by using 21st century approaches. • To effectively use the new skills and approaches that have been imparted to me by Intel training in my teaching methodologies.

  5. Developing 21st century skills in students • Students will work on difficult, challenging tasks that requires them to think deeply about subject and what they are being taught. • Students will be given small workshops and training sessions in which they will be taught how to effectively work in teams, collaborate with each other and demonstrate strong teamwork skills and leadership.

  6. Developing 21st century skills in students • Inculcating in my students a strong sense of ownership, being accountable for all tasks and adaptable to all the changes that come on their way. • Developing strong career orientation in my students so they direct themselves right from the start and are clear about their route-maps.

  7. Developing 21st century skills in students • Developing strong mathematical skills and using technology and vast amount of information before making decisions, solving issues and generating new ideas or reasoning for their soluions. • Developing in my students a strong bend towards work ethics and social responsibility to make them useful citizens of our country!

  8. Syllabus Break-up for of the 1ST Term • Number and Number System- BODMAS • Factors and Multiples- LCM, HCF, Squares and Square Roots, Cubes and Cubes Roots • Integers • Rational Numbers • Estimation and Approximation • Number Sequences • Geometrical Constructions

  9. Implementing 21st century skills in my teaching methodologies

  12. The 5 E’s of the Learning Process

  13. The 5 E’s of the Learning Process • Exploration: Students first explore the topic thoroughly and try to find its real life examples for it. • Explanation: Students then move towards the explanation of the topic in order to gain a better understanding and insight. • Elaboration: Once the explanation is clear students start working on the topic’s elaboration.

  14. The 5 E’s of the Learning Process • Engagement: Students are then fully engaged in the topic and they are able to apply it where ever its application is required. • Evaluation: Students then evaluate/ test themselves on how much they have their hold on the subject matter. • These 5 E’s are an ongoing process of the learning cycle and we all glide through these five steps of learning in our learning process.
