Day One Ideas What we’ll do today • Receive Syllabus • So, you want to be in advertising: Monster.Com • Find who I am and who you are • Who I am and how I got here • Who you are :30 second coml. • major, last book read .. Best movie seen this summer – hobbies-languages spoken, travels this summer, etc. (HAND IN TO ME AT END OF CLASS) • Set semester goals and your expectations • What can I do to help you succeed? Suggestions? • Special needs? Please feel free to let me know.
Dos and Don’ts • Put Cell phones on silent, on stun or off • Nothing allowed that will disturb others • Music, etc. • Bring the tools you will need to class • No food or drink in this room • Explanations of what I will look for and grade on • Being able to ID Strategy and think strategically • Evaluate ideas and ads • Matching ad executions to copy and market strategy • Attention to detail • What will hurt • Sloppy work (Grammar, spelling, structure) • Borrowed work • Inattention in class • Not following directions (45 sec 30-sec coml..) • Absences (see attendance policy) • Can re-do assignments not tests • I will notify if content of day may have religious or moral items and you can excuse yourself from that part of class
