  4. Popular Sovereignty • voting, elections, petitions to government, etc.

  5. Look for articles relating to • The 2012 presidential and congressional elections. • Local elections city, county and state. • Citizens United v. F.E.C.

  6. Limited Government • prohibiting government power (ex. Through court cases)

  7. Look for articles relating to • Watergate • President Clintons Impeachment • Court cases relating to the Patriot act. • Barnett v. West Virginia • Tinker v. Des Moines

  8. Separation of Powers • Each branch performing their jobs. (Judicial – interpreting laws and judicial review, Legislative – making laws, Executive - enforcing laws and conducting foreign policy)

  9. Look for articles relating to • Roosevelt's Court packing plan. • Line item veto President Clinton national level. • Obama recess appointments.

  10. Checks and Balances • One branch checking the other branches of government (veto, judicial review, Congressional over site and hearings, Judicial appointments and confirmations)
