  1. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search Renata Dyer Manager, Systems and Electronic Services High Court of Australia Library AIUG Conference, 2010

  2. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Background • The HCA WebPac is made available publicly • The Library Collections contain material that has to be suppressed from the public view • Prior to March 2010, a range of individual items were suppressed • Library patrons were required to logon to Staff View in order to discover all material AIUG Conference, 2010

  3. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Searching in WebPac: Issues • Home WebPac page on Intranet opened /patroninfo (logon page) forcing the patrons to logon prior to searching • The records were displayed in Staff View – not user friendly • External users did not have any issues AIUG Conference, 2010

  4. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Purpose of the Project • Enabling our users to seamlessly access WebPac without logging on and viewing records in the Staff Mode • To restrict WebPac access to specific material held in the Library collections in more secured way AIUG Conference, 2010

  5. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Investigating possible solutions • Learning about scopes • Library purchased four scopes in the past and only 2 have been used • Service Request submitted inquiring if ports/scopes can be used to restrict what is displayed in public view without the suppression on item level • Talking to III Senior Systems Librarian: Ports? Scopes? Network Access Logon? AIUG Conference, 2010

  6. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Phases • Opening new port (III) • Creating new scope. The purpose of the scope was to nominate locations discoverable in public search (PublicOpac)(III) • Creating a new logon (Library)Two logons were used to ensure access is controlled for each port. • New wwwoptions2080 added to Mil Admin – Settings – Web Options tab (III) • Lockscope configured in Mil Admin - Web Options; F for 2080 and T for 80 (Library) AIUG Conference, 2010

  7. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Telnet configuration • New port 2080 created by III • The port is configured in the Network Access Administration Table; Telnet path A-A-L-N AIUG Conference, 2010

  8. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Telnet configuration - cont • Two distinctive logons are applied: hcweb and web • Web logon is associated with ‘old’ port 80 – locked to PublicOpac scope A-A-L-L • Hcweb logon is associated with new 2080 port – scope not locked AIUG Conference, 2010

  9. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Ports, Logons and Scopes Millennium Ports Administered via Telnet Administered via Mill Admin wwwoptions files 2080 80 2082 Web PublicOpac scope hcweb hcweb no scope Logons Scopes Lockscope=F Lockscope=T Classic OPAC: shared screens files toplogo_s3.html toplogo.html WebPac Pro / =mainmenu.html /search =opacmenu.html AIUG Conference, 2010

  10. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Further Customisation of the Screens Issue: screens files were shared; two OPAC views looked exactly the same. • But….the scopes displayed in the menu on port 80 did not function…. Initial (and partial) Solution: • The “/search” returns opacmenu.html and “/” returns mainmenu.html. The opacmenu.html changed (III) to hide scopes but STARTOVER would still go to mainmenu.html and reveal scopes. AIUG Conference, 2010

  11. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library HTML changes in opacmenu.html The "opacmenu.html" file was changed from: <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=/search~/a?a>^M  <!--{scope}-->^Mto this: <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=/search/a?a>      <!--{scope}-->Two things are accomplished:  by indenting the 'scope' token, it becomesdisabled, and the scope dropdown disappears from the page. This work was done by Mark Welge, Senior Systems Librarian, III AIUG Conference, 2010

  12. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Adjusting the WebPac view for External Users WebPac Pro Opportunities • The wwwoptions.2080 file was edited so that the STARTOVER returned to / instead of /search. • WEBPAC allows separate toplogo files for separate scopes: toplogo_s3.html was edited so that the Library Home link returned to / instead of /search. The internal users are now returned to mainmenu.html instead of opacmenu.html. AIUG Conference, 2010

  13. AIUG Conference, 2010

  14. Utilising Millennium Ports to Restrict Discovery of the Library Collections via WebPac Search High Court of Australia Library Risk Management • Risks associated with upgrading or making any changes in WebPac Example: With recent WebPac Pro Refresher service we lost STARTOVER editing done in the wwwoptions.2080 and this had to be redone Tip: - record your configuration and original Service Request Ref. No. and share it with III when needed AIUG Conference, 2010
