  3. The Great Parenthesis The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me; because He has anointed me to preach good news unto the poor, He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,…” Isaiah 61:1-2 and Luke 4:17-19 .....and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn: The Church-Age Gap The Tribulation 4

  4. The Great Parenthesis “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people; Your sons and daughters will prophecy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on the servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days… Joel 2:28-31 .....and I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and billows of smoke.   7. Daniel’s 70 Weeks Babylonian Captivity Captivity begins 606 B.C. Many transported to Babylon 70 Years Jerusalem destroyed 586 B.C. Daniel reading Jeremiah 538 B.C. Captivity ends 536 B.C.

Daniel’s 70 Weeks Its 4 sections 1. 7 weeks - 49 years • Rebuilding streets & walls 2. 62 weeks - 434 years • Messiah will be “cut off.” 3. ½ week – 3½ years • First half of the Tribulation • Antichrist makes 7-year treaty with Israel. 4. ½ week – 3½ years • Last half of the Tribulation • Antichrist breaks treaty • Israel persecuted

  9. Daniel’s 70 Weeks Gap between 69th & 70th weeks 1. It is set apart from the other 69, and more attention given to the 70th week 2. Between the 69 & 70th week are two events. 3. Verse 24 says 6 things must happen before the end of the 70th week. • To finish the transgression • To make an end of sins • To finish reconciliation for iniquity • To bring in everlasting righteousness • To seal up the vision and prophecy • To anoint the most holy place 4. Matthew alludes to a gap in Daniel’s prophecy.
