  2. Colored Pencils • Can give excellent textural detail and rich color effects • Minimal materials needed • Inexpensive • Fast • Excellent with mixed media

Colored Pencil Notes *label a new page in your sketchbook and write these notes down. • Prismacolor Pencils are oil based and will blend well. • Apply tiny layers of color. • Do not use stump to blend strokes • Combine colors for brilliant effects • Avoid overworking the surface until the last layer • Burnishing is when all the grain of the paper is filled in and the pencils look shiny. • Use white or a secondary color to blend (burnish) colors

  4. TIMELINE: • Friday: 1/6: • Practice colored pencil techniques • Circles and apple • 2. Tuesday 1/10: • Pick and Print Pic of your character. • Must be Pixar or Disney • Draw on the paper provided. • Fill up the space • Won’t be approved until it is PERFECT!!!!!

  5. TIMELINE: • 3. Thursday 1/12: • Last warm up on page • Start your drawing • 4. Tuesday 1/17: • Colored pencil Disney artist youtube • Coloring practice on rough draft • 5. Thurs. 1/19: • Animation youtube • Critiques (mid way) • Make changes to pic/transfer to good paper

  6. In your sketchbook: • Draw 3 - 2”circles on the page with your notes. • Practice 3 techniques. • Draw Apple. • Practice blending techniques.

  17. Today’s Learning Targets • I will know about some art careers involved in Animation. • I will understand how cartoon characters are developed. (YouTube) • I can critique my peers’ art work. • I can create a Disney or Pixar character that looks 3D and realistic. (Our Project)

  18. Critique: A chance to give and receive feedback from your peers. Critiques are intended to help the artist by hearing a different perspective. They allow the artists to see other artist’s work. Gives the artist specific ideas for making improvements.

  19. How Does this work? Write your comments on the rubric next to each project. One comment must say a specific part that you like about their drawing. One comment must say a specific thing that can be changed/fixed. (Does it look just like the character?)

  20. What is a Comment Like? Comments must be specific. Comments must be respectful. Comments can be critical. Comments must not be hurtful.
