  14. Assessment/Accreditation

  15. Environmental Eng. • 1. To develop graduates that function successfully in areas of environmental engineering, such as air pollution, water and wastewater treatment, and solid and hazardous waste engineering. • 2.To prepare graduates for advanced education in environmental engineering and related fields, and for professional licensure.

Recommended Actions: Assessment for 2010 • Articulate long term assessment plan for Spring meeting (Owner: Faculty) • met – meeting May 2010 • Prepare self-study for ABET (Owner: Faculty) • met – self-study completed June 2010 • Increase unit-ops labs by 1 (Owner: Riley/Price) • met – humidification added Fall 2010 • Complete feasibility study to include safety in outcomes or objectives (Owner: Faculty) ABET will require process hazards very soon

  17. Recommended Actions: Assessment for 2011 • Revise alumni surveys (ABET weakness) (Owner: Chair) • Revise IAB meeting minutes procedure (Owner: Leclerc/Hooper/Board/Faculty) • Revise Educational Objectives (ABET weakness) (Owner: All) • Set benchmarks for assessment tools (Owner: All)

Characteriz. Fall 2009, Tartis – Biomedical Eng. Spring 2010 Connect AIChE with three facilities to tour Owner: Faculty/IAB CEHMS – algae grower, ??, ?? Reach out to alumni and new companies in New Mexico to become involved in the development and direction of the program. Owner: Board Invited Jason Harper to join IAB

Recommended Actions: Educational Objectives for 2009 • Overhaul/organize long term assessment plan (Owner: Faculty) IN PROGRESS • Evaluate senior design presentation with quantitative results (Owner: Faculty and IAB) – DONE (must evaluate the evaluation tool) • Re-evaluate use and value of FE Exam results (Owner: Faculty) DONE – plan to use 2 year moving averages and monitor slope of curve, reconnected with S. Alabama to obtain their data • Set-up annual review of alumni and graduates (Owner: Faculty) DONE – surveys out to 0,1,3 year grads • 5. Review curriculum, i.e. evaluate pre-requisites, tech electives, coverage of learning outcomes (Owner: Faculty) IN PROGRESS – added tech electives, ES pre-reqs under review, learning outcomes identified for each course, must evaluate CHE pre-reqs
