  3. The Components of Physical Fitness are: • Cardiovascular Endurance (Heart and Lung Endurance) • Muscular Strength • Muscular Endurance • Flexibility • Body Composition

  4. Cardiovascular Endurance • Heart and Lung Endurance is the ability to do activities that require increased oxygen.

  5. Muscular Strength • Muscular Strength is the ability to use your muscles to perform various activities.

  6. Muscular Endurance • Muscular Endurance is the ability to use muscular strength over a set period of time.

  7. Flexibility • Flexibility is the ability to bend and move the joints through a full range of motion.

  8. Body Composition • Body Composition is the % of body fat compared to the % of lean muscle tissue.

  9. All of these components should be included in your personal fitness plan.

  10. Examples of Flexibility are: • Stretching • sit and reach • hamstring stretch • calf raises • quad stretch • triceps stretch • trunk flex

  11. Examples of Muscular Strength and Endurance Activities are: • Push ups • Crunches • Lifting Weights • Jump and Jacks • Jogging • Speed Walking • Bicycling

  12. Examples of Heart and Lung Endurance Activities are: • Any activity that you perform for 15 minutes or more that makes your heart rate increase significantly. • Jogging • Bicycling • Jump roping • Step Aerobics • Swimming

  13. Body Composition is a result of the amount of exercise that you participate in on a regular basis and your diet.

  14. FITT • F = Frequency • How many times a week you do it. • I = Intensity • How much effort your putting into your workout. • T = Type • How different exercises effect different body parts. • T = Time • How long you do the exercise for.
