B~ Bird • The state bird of Hawaii is the Nene ( nay-nay) or Hawaiian goose. The Nene has a black face and cream-colored cheeks. The neck is sort of gray with a black streak.
C~ Crops • One of Hawaii's state crop's is pineapple. The pineapple is sort of brown and yellow mixed with a green top.
D~ Draw state flag • In 1816 Kamehameha the Great commissioned the state flag. Now it stands as Hawaii's mark in the United States.
E~ Entertainment • In Hawaii you can enjoy marine life aboard a submarine during the day and take a break on one of the various beaches. Then enjoy a night with an amazing sunset view.

G~ Governor and State Capital • Hawaii's governor is Linda Lingle. She was born on June 4th, 1953. Also she is the first female governor of Hawaii. Hawaii's state capital is Honolulu. Many famous people are from Honolulu.
H~ History • Hawaii was found on January 18, 1778 by Captain James Cook and his crew. On that same journey they also discovered the Northwest passage between Alaska and Asia. Hawaii's first ruler was Kamehameha 1st in 1810.
I~ Indian Tribes from Hawaii • A few of the tribes are Sioux, Spokane, Mandan, and Seminole. These are only a few of the tribes, because there are so many I can list all of them.

K~ Kinds of Food • Since it is a group of islands and is surrounded by water they have many fish to catch. One kind is Mahi. Hawaii combines the foods of many different cultures. They also enjoy many servings of rice.
L~ Landforms • Hawaii's island`s are flat except for the towering volcanoes. From an overlook it looks like a green group of islands. Except on the largest island the volcanoes are inactive.
M~ Motto • Hawaii's motto is “Ua mau ke ea o ka aina I ka pono”. Translated means “The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness”. On May 1st, 1959 the motto was adopted by the Kingdom of Hawaii.
N~ Natural Resources • Their main natural resource is soil because they use it for agriculture. Because of the mild climate and soil, the crop year never ends.
O~ Origin of Hawaii • Hawaii might have been named after the traditional home of the Polynesians, Hawaii or Hawaiki. No one knows for sure though.

S~ State Flower and State Song • Hawaii`s state song is “Hawaii Ponoi” or in English “Hawaii`s Own”. The lyrics are: Hawaii ponio nana I kou, moi Kalani Ali`i, ke Ali`i. Makua lani e Kamehameha e na kaua e pale Me ka I he. Translated means: Hawaii`s own true sons, Be loyal to your chief. Your countrys liege and lord, the King above us all, Kamehameha, Who guarded in the war with his spear. Hawaii`s state flower is the yellow hibiscus. The hibiscus is a beautiful flower and can also be found in other places, not just Hawaii.
T~ State Tree • Hawaii`s state tree is the Candlenut or in Hawaiian, Kukui. It has white and yellow flowers that are often used in lei's. It can grow to be 60 feet tall with 9 inch long flowers. They are usually grown for shade.
U~ Unusual Facts • One unusual fact is that Hawaii is the 42nd most popular state . Also Hawaii`s nickname is the Aloha state and Aloha means love so it is actually called the love state.
V~ Vacation Spots • Most all of Hawaii is a vacation spot. On the island of Hawaii there is a volcano that is constantly pumping out lava. Life near a volcano isn't as scary as it may sound, because most eruptions are gentle and are more of a tourist attraction than a threat.
W~ Weather and Climate • Hawaii`s temperature is “just right” it is not too hot or too cold. The weather usually stays that way because it is surrounded by an ocean. Snow is very rare in Hawaii but does happen at very high elevations.
X~ eXciting Facts • Some exciting facts about Hawaii are…… Hawaii is one of the last places discovered by humans. There are 5 volcanoes in Hawaii. Their names are Mauna Loa, Kilauea, Mauna Kea, Hulalai, and Kohala.
