Semester-end Review for Marketing Documentation Projects Geoffrey Presor Project Look Sharp December 20, 2011
My tasks • Picasa Library • Update Kits Page • Make Facebook Ads • Design E-blast • Help with Twitter Database
Picasa Library of Images • Picasa can letthe entire PLS staff access the image library from any computer. • Interns are able to upload, sort, edit, tag, and download pictures from their personal computers. • Images are hosted and can be linked to, all while the actual page and albums are private to the public.
Old Kits Page • The busy covers make the document seem cluttered • Kits are not grouped by subject • The landscape orientation makes users have to turn the kit or their head • No room for expansion
Facebook Ads • Promote community features • Minimal management because it is user-based • The document mimics the Facebook font and palette • Use humor to catch the eye and show hipness
E-Blast • Fresh, green palette to convey environmentalism • Social media links at top and bottom • Moving away from strictly blue and yellow palettes • Kit announcements should be highly unique to create cohesive theme • Standard format should exist for newsletters
Twitter Database • “On This Day in History” tweets will engage our followers with historical facts that relate back to a specific kit • Example: #OTDIH The U.S. Supreme Court declared segregation in public education to be unconstitutional(link to kit) #medialiteracy
Results Observed • Not exactly applicable to the projects I was working on, given the time period. • Many of the documents have not been fully integrated into the kits or seen by the public yet.
Continuation Recommendations • Cover Redesigns • Brochure Redesigns • Continue with Facebook ads
