Let’s start with the “Core” – 16 Credits What is a credit?????
What is an elective credit? In addition to the 16 core credits you need to: Take electives Take 2 credits of World Language or 2 credits of Advanced Technology or 4 credits of a CTE program The total credit count must be 21 credits or more!

There are Three Pathways 1 - University Pathway 2 - Career and Technology Pathway Complete the 16 core credits Complete 4 credits in an approved CTE program sequence • Complete the 16 core credits • Complete 4 credits in Math (to include: Alg.1/Geo./Alg. 2/ and non-trivial Alg. • Complete 2 credits in a World Language • 3 – Dual Completer • Complete University Pathway • Complete Career and Technology Pathway

Maryland Scholars Distinction The Maryland Scholars Course of study requires: 4 credits of English 3 credits of Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II) 3 credits of Lab Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics*) 3 credits of Social Studies (U.S. History, World History, Government) 2 credits of the same World Language Students must attain a 3.0 overall GPA to qualify. The designation “Maryland State Scholar” will appear on the student’s final transcript.
Be Proactive! • Decide which breakout sessions you want to attend tonight. • Think about questions you want to ask tonight and those that you want to ask your counselor. • Be prepared to share your planning sheet and questions with the counselor when you meet with them in the next few weeks.
