What are electronic portfolios? • Electronic filing systems • Allows students to store: • Papers • Curriculum vita • Clinical hours • Examples of clinical experiences • Examples of course experiences and how they influenced your practice • Foliotek portfolio available on Internet • Free while a student; small annual fee ($30) after graduation

  4. Why electronic portfolios? • Presentations to potential employers • Demonstrating competencies and skills • Evidence for progression through the program (e.g., meeting terminal program outcomes) • Evidence for meeting CCNE and NONPF standards for DNPs

  5. How do I use my Foliotek portfolio? • Save the evidence! • In the portfolio, we give very strong suggestions about what to save for evaluation. • You can save any other artifacts you wish.

  6. Portfolio Structure • View contents in different ways • By topic • By standard • Items that illustrate meeting standards have already been linked to each standard

Standard 1 • Generate & disseminate nursing practice knowledge to stimulate research & improve clinical outcomes • Scientific Underpinnings (NURS705, 706 exemplars) • Clinical Scholarship for EBP (NURS652, 630, 631, 738, 752) • Presentations & Publications • Practice Inquiry • Proposal approved • IRB approval • Final defense approved

  11. Time to Reflect • Each year, write a short reflection paper on your progress toward meeting the standards • Integrate science and practice • Wow what you learned changed your practice • Cite the evidence

Meeting Annual Goals • Advisory Committee will review your presentation portfolio • See that you are on track and give you feedback. • Update your portfolio regularly and expect to have it ready to present to your committee by RISE each year. • NOTE: You only make available to the committee the items you want to be evaluated on.

  13. After Graduation • This is your professional portfolio • Small fee • Allow the UACON to use for Program Evaluation
