  6. What is Capacity? Capacity = Resources + Readiness • Various types and levels of resources within the county and within an organization, such as a coalition • The county’s level of readiness to engage in and support prevention efforts.

  7. Building Capacity: Five Areas

  8. Readiness The county’s willingness to engage in and support prevention efforts as well as the availability of skills and resources within the county.

  9. Resources The various types and levels of support that a county, community, organization, or individual has at their disposal to meet implementation demands. Examples of resources?

  26. County Resource Mapping • Promotes county collaboration through • aligning services • Sometimes referred to as asset mapping or • environmental scans

  27. County Resource Mapping • Goals of Resource Mapping • Identify new resources • Avoid duplication • Cultivate new partnerships • Provide information across agencies • Encourage collaboration

  28. Resource Mapping Process • Scan the Resources • Create a comprehensive list of all services that prevent substance abuse • Include the names of the organizations that provide these services • Document information in chart provided
