  3. Answer: • An endoskeleton is an organism with an internal skeleton (bones on the inside). An example could be any vertebrate like a human, cat or dog.

  6. Question: • What is an adaptation? Give an example.

  7. Answer: • An adaptation is a change that allows the organism to perform better in its environment. An example could be bird beaks, blubber, etc.

  8. Question: • What does the term endotherm mean? Give an example.

  9. Answer: • An endotherm is a warm blooded organism (can regulate it’s own body temperature). An example is humans.

  10. Question: • What does the term ecototherm mean? Give an example.

  11. Answer: • An ectotherm cannot regulate it’s own body temperature (cold blooded). An example is a snake.

  12. Question: • What is a vertebrate? List the 5 groups of vertebrates.

  13. Answer: • A vertebrate is an organism with a backbone. The 5 groups are: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

  15. Answer: • Gills allow a fish to take in dissolved oxygen underwater in order to breathe.

  17. Answer: • The function of the swim bladder in fish is to control how low or high it floats in water.
