This study analyzes alcohol consumption patterns among pupils in Ho Chi Minh City in 2004. The findings reveal that while alcohol use is not extremely high, it is significant during festivals, holidays, or emotional distress. About 26.6% of pupils reported drinking alcohol, with 59.4% doing so just once. The age of first consumption mostly ranges from 13 to 18 years. Key risk factors for alcohol use identified include the desire for social status, discomfort from criticism, exploration of new experiences, parental drinking patterns, and exposure to risk-prone environments like coffee bars and dance venues.
