  4. OBJECTIVE: To use William Paley's comparison of the world to a watch to aid in the understanding of the design argument. William Paley = A British Christian 18th century philosopher

  5. OUTCOMES… Your GOALS for the end of this lesson are… GRADE C • Will be able to make links and describe Paley’s comparison of a watch to the world. GRADE B Will be able to identify the reasons why Paley came to the conclusions he did. GRADE A/A* Will be able to disprove Paley’s theory through counter-arguments.

  12. Example… Explain how the human body might be an example of Paley’s theory. Some people (including Paley) argue that the body is so unique and works so well that it must have had a designer… Christians believe this to be God.

  13. If something has been designed it must have a designer – the only thing omnipotent enough to be this designer is God.
