  1. Harrison Bergeron By: Nareg Dabaghian and Jill Martin

  2. Defining Quotes “‘I’d think it would be real interesting hearing all the different sounds,’ said Hazel, a little envious. ‘All the things they think up’” (Vonnegut 346).

  3. Quote on page 346 This quote shows how Hazel is interested in having a handicap tool even though she is not eligible for one because she is “average.” This shows that average in this dystopia is under average during this time.

  4. Defining Quotes “Even as i stand here-” he bellowed, “crippled, hobbled, sickened-i am a greater ruler than any man who ever lived! Now watch me become what i can become!” (Vonnegut 350)

  5. Quote on page 350 Harrison interrupts the ballerinas dance concert by barging through the door. Moments before, the news had announced that Harrison Bergeron was loose and everybody should be careful. Harrison could have escaped and been free for the rest of his life, but he went on live television to get his point through, that the government is taking advantage of people and their god given talents, and everybody has to open their eyes to realize this serious matter.

  6. Defining Quotes “‘Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen,’ she said in a grackle squawk, ‘has just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion for plotting to overthrow the government. He is a genius and an athlete, is under-handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous’”(Vonnegut 348)

  7. Quote on page 348 This quote took place when the news broadcaster said that Harrison Bergeron, the 14 year old, broke out of jail and everybody should be cautious. Harrison was highest form of the human model at the time, and the government was very scared that this young kid was going to bring lots of trouble toward them.
