  25. Accessories for Evolution Magnetic Drills Hitech USA offers two types of High Speed Steel annular cutters for the Evolution magnetic drills. The Professional Grade are made of High Speed Steel hardened to 62 on the Rockwell “C” scale. This cutter offers a favorable price with good life. The Cyclone Grade cutters were developed as a superior product to cobalt and coated cutters. They are manufactured from High Speed Steel, hardened to a Rockwell “C” of 68, providing longer life. These cutters are manufactured in Sheffield, England. All common imperial sizes from 7/16’ to 3” are readily available. Metric sizes are also available. These cutters use a common ¾” shank with two flats for allen set screws and may be used in competing brands of magnetic drills, drill presses, and milling machines.

  26. Evolution Annular Cutters Cutters are available in both metric and imperial sizes and range in diameter from 7/16” through 3” with depths of cuts up to three inches. Evolution offers three grades of cutters. Professional grade is high speed steel and provides a good tool life at a moderate price. The Cyclone Cutter is a long life cutter and maintains a higher price. Carbide cutters are for the tough jobs where high speed steel doesn’t hold up.

  27. Pilot Pins Pilot pins provide three functions: they help to align the cutter, they act as a valve for coolant, and they help to eject the slug from the cutter. Pilot pins are sized for a range of cutters. Check the chart in the catalog.

  28. Countersinks are often used to prepare a seat for machine screws. Evolution offers two 0 to1 1/2” at 82 and 90 degrees and two at 0” to 2” at 82 and 90 degrees. The countersinks will fit any of the Evolution magnetic drills.

  29. Straight Flute Step Drills These drills are fluted on two sides and are available in 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2 “ shanks. Plumbers, electricians and sheetmetal workers favor these drills as one drill can complete various sized finished holes.

  30. Accessories for Evolution Magnetic Drills Twist drills can be used in the Evolution drill by using the chuck and chuck adaptor. Cutters last longer when properly cooled. Both cream and liquid coolant are available and listed in the price book. All Evolution drills come with an integrated cooling system. Coolant floods the cutter internally, supplied by the coolant tank attached to the drill. Standard Countersinks of 82 or 90 degrees can be found in the price book. Fluted step drills used by plumbers electricians and sheetmetal workers are available sizes 3/16” through 1 3/8”.

  31. Accessory Review Plumbers, electricians and sheetmetal workers use stepdrills. True or False The integrated cooling system floods the cutter internally. True or False? How many countersinks does Evolution offer? 4 Professional grade cutters offer good tool life. True or False? Cyclone Cutters are long life cutters. True or False?

  32. Accessory Review Carbide cutters are for everyday use on mild steel. True or False? Coolant is not important for maintaining long tool life. True or False? Drill chucks are only available for the Mustang 130. True or False? Pilot pins have three functions. Centering the drill, coolant valve and ejecting the slug. True or False?
