  3. Noun – a person, place, thing or idea (ex. Beyonce, New York, pencil, love) • Verb - actions, what you do! (run, swim, talk, jump) • Adjective – describes a noun (colors, short, pretty, handsome, ugly) • Adverb – describes a verb (quickly, slowly, speedily, rudely) • Preposition – tells you where, location word (on, in, over, under) • Conjunction – joiner words (and, or, but, because) • Pronoun – words that replace nouns (she, it, I, me, theirs, ours) • Interjection – words that show emotion (yo, stop, hey, oops)
