  2. Decorating your sentence - Semicolons • Semicolons: Use semicolons to combine two sentences without using a conjunction. Semicolons MUST connect two independent clauses. • . ; Independent Clause Independent Clause Ex: She hopes to earn good grades this semester; her scholarship depends on it. Ex: Tony is a careless driver; he has had three minor accidents this year alone!
