Why do I have to take the CEDLT? State and Federal law require schools to assess (test) the English proficiency of students whose primary (first) language is not English.
The CELDT has 4 parts: • Listening • Speaking • Reading • Writing
CELDT Levels • Beginning- 1 • Early Intermediate- 2 • Intermediate- 3 • Early Advanced- 4 • Advanced- 5
How often do I have to take the CELDT? • The CELDT is administered (given) once a year until you are reclassified.
How do Iget reclassified? • Overall level of 4 or 5 on the CELDT without a subtest score of 3 or lower • Basic (3) or higher on the CST/ELA test • Grades of C or better in math, English, history, and science
Why am I in ELD? • ELD (English Language Development) is for students at a level 3 on the CELDT. • The first month of class will focus on preparing you for the CELDT • After CELDT “boot camp” we will use a program called English 3D.
English 3D • English 3D is a program that targets vocabulary, writing, speaking, and listening to help students achieve the high expectations of the new Common Core State Standards, and to succeed in college and career.
