  3. About Rodney • Likes louder music • Longer arms, big hands • Struggles with hearing various pitches • Wants to play a popular instrument

Brass Instruments: Facts: Instrument Families • Trumpet • The trumpet plays high brassy notes • Cornet • Has a conical metal tube and is mellower than the Trumpet • Trombone •Brass wind instrument with cup mouthpiece and a long metal tube • Tuba • The tuba is the lowest instrument in the whole bras section • French Horn • This instrument plays a chromatic scale

Woodwind Instruments: Facts: Instrument Families  • Flute • The flute produces very bright and joyful notes • Oboe • The oboe is widely used in classical compositions • Clarinet • The clarinet has a very wide range of notes that can be played • Saxophone • Depending on the player the Saxophone can sound mellow or strong

Instrument Families Percussion Instruments: Facts: • Triangle • A small metal bar shaped like a triangle, it makes a dinging sound • Snare Drum • Metal wire, called snares, are stretched across the bottom skin and rattle when the drum is struck • Timpani • Most orchestras have one musician playing four Timpani's • Cymbals • They don’t play specific notes, it depends on their size

  7. Instrument Families String Instruments: Facts: • Violin • Violin is the highest pitched member of the string family • Viola • Is in the middle register of the string family • Cello • Has a beautiful, mellow sound • Double Base • Most basses are a little taller than 6 feet
