Copy Down Vocabulary • Labor Union – group of workers that try to improve working conditions/wages • Proletariat – those who do manual labor and work for wages; working class • Bourgeoisie – educated middle class • Urbanization –growth of cities and migration of people into them • Strike - to refuse to work in order to force an employer to meet certain demands

  8. 1. Agricultural Revolution • Mass food production • Created large population (labor) • New inventions

  9. 2. Natural Resources • Rich in coal, iron, livestock (sheep = wool), timber, rivers, land • Rivers can transport goods and provide energy

  10. 3. Political Stability • The government works and is effective • No more revolutions • Government supports industrialization by passing pro-industrial laws

  11. 4. Capital • Having the money to invest in business and inventions • Britain is one of the wealthiest countries

  12. 5. Entrepreneurs • People who invest or create businesses or products • Help create or support inventions/ideas

  13. 6. Labor • England has a large population • People = workers • Farmers move to towns/cities for wages • Educated
